Best time to visit
May to September has the mildest, driest weather for walking the old fortress town; winters are mild for the latitude but grey and rainy rather than snowy.
Practical tips
- Luxembourgish, French and German are all official languages; English is widely understood in the capital.
- Standard European plug (two round pins, Type C/E/F), 230V.
- All public transport nationwide (trains, trams and buses) has been free since 2020 — no ticket needed for getting around.
- Tipping is modest: rounding up or adding a few euros for good service is appreciated but not obligatory.
